Following the devastating earthquakes that killed thousands of people in early 2023, UNFPA and its partners are working to provide crucial sexual and reproductive health services and supplies as well as gender-based-violence services. Active in the Syrian Arab Republic since 1971, UNFPA has positively impacted development indicators in the country. The humanitarian programme, which began with the start of armed conflict in 2011, has scaled up its collaboration with various partners, improving access to reproductive health care in areas where services have been disrupted, in addition to working to prevent and respond to gender-based violence.
