The We Decide Programme: Advancing rights and choices for women and young persons with disabilities

What is the We Decide Programme?

The We Decide Programme is UNFPA’s flagship initiative on disability inclusion. It empowers women and young people with disabilities to make their own decisions about their bodies, lives and futures – free from discrimination, violence and barriers to access.

Grounded in the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development, We Decide ensures that persons with disabilities are meaningfully included in efforts to achieve sexual and reproductive health and rights for all.

Why the We Decide Programme matters

Worldwide, women and young persons with disabilities continue to face widespread stigma and exclusion. They are disproportionately affected by gender-based violence and often denied access to sexual and reproductive health and rights services, information and education.

We Decide responds to these intersecting inequalities by promoting inclusive systems, building capacity, amplifying voices and investing in solutions led by and for persons with disabilities.
