The UNFPA Tokyo Representation Office (TRO) was established in October 2002, strategically located in Tokyo, Japan, to fortify UNFPA's presence and engagement within the country. As part of the Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships (DCS), TRO maintains close collaboration with key stakeholders in Japan, which includes crucial partnerships with government bodies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, parliamentarians, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, academia, media, and citizens. TRO's primary work is to elevate awareness about UNFPA's mandate and objectives and advocate for consistent and increased funding to support UNFPA's activities worldwide. The office consists of the Chief, an Administrative Assistant, seasonal interns, and periodical consultants.
