This report summarizes the proceedings and recommendations of the November 2010 global consultation on violence against women that brought together various stakeholders, including United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations and representatives of the 10 pilot countries selected under the Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality.

A report from the consultative meeting held in Bratislava, Slovakia, on 13-15 November 2001. The purpose of the meeting was twofold: first, to examine and explore the impact of armed conflict on women and girls; and, second, to formulate strategies and tools to ensure that reproductive health programmes accurately reflect this population's needs, specifically by addressing them through a comprehensive, gender-sensitive approach.

Working with both women and men, we continued the effort during 2001 to eliminate violence against women and the discrimination that limits the potential of individuals and nations. Our role in human development, mandated by the United Nations and globally endorsed at the ICPD, is to improve the reproductive health of women, men and young people in the poorest countries?and in so doing, to bring about a more equitable world.

This report is intended to contribute to the United Nations efforts to implement the Security council resolution 1325 by reassessing the UNFPA institutional support, as well as defining and strengthening UNFPA role in implementing the resolution through global, regional and country programs examples and interventions.
