UNFPA Situation Report on Cameroon - February 2026

In February, the localities of Bargaram and Darak in Cameroon’s Far North Region experienced a series of severe attacks by non-state armed groups. These incidents resulted in civilian casualties, abductions, and the looting and destruction of critical public and health facilities.

The escalation of violence has significantly deteriorated the humanitarian situation, triggering new displacement, increasing protection risks for already vulnerable populations, and further limiting access to essential healthcare services, including sexual and reproductive health.

During February, 13,073 individuals accessed sexual and reproductive health services provided by UNFPA and its implementing partners across 26 supported health facilities. These services included assisted deliveries, life-saving caesarean sections, antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, and the clinical management of rape.

UNFPA also supported seven women and girls’ safe spaces, where 520 women and adolescent girls benefited from psychosocial support activities. In addition, 4,202 people participated in gender-based violence awareness-raising sessions.

In 2026, UNFPA requires US$4 million to deliver life-saving reproductive health and protection services in Cameroon. As of February, US$1.8 million has been secured, leaving a remaining gap of US$2.2 million.
