The 2024 Annual Report for the UNFPA–UNICEF Joint Programme on the Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation features snapshots from 18 focus countries as well as, for the first time, regional snapshots covering Asia and the Pacific, East and Southern Africa, West and Central Africa, and the Arab States.
Each country snapshot provides a brief overview of the context, including drivers, prevalence, attitudes, and progress towards eliminating FGM, along with a list of key programme partners. The regional snapshots summarize the FGM burden, legal and policy context, and momentum across countries in each region, flag key risks, and showcase results and innovations. Together, they highlight key programmatic achievements and illustrate how Phase IV of the programme is driving change at local, national, and regional levels.
