Job Summary:
The Programme Specialist is located in the Afghanistan Country Office. The position works under the overall leadership of the Representative and reports directly to the Deputy Representative.
The Programme Specialist ensures the effective management of UNFPA activities in the areas of Adolescents and Youth and Youth and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH). S/he oversees project formulation and evaluation, joint programming initiatives and national development frameworks. S/he supervises staff and collaborates with the CO’s operations/administrative support staff.
Qualification and Education:
Education:
Advanced degree in public health, population, demography and/or other related social science field.
Knowledge and Experience:
Five years professional experience in the field of development and population activities, with experience in programme/ project management.
Languages:
Fluency in English and knowledge of the local languages (Dari / Pashto) is required.
