The Position

The Security Associate post is located in UNFPA DRC main office in Kinshasa, and reports to the International Operations Manager (IOM), in the Operations unit. The Local Security Associate assists the CO Management team in the implementation of security operations and all matters relating to the management of safety and security for UNFPA personnel and assets in DRC.

Qualifications and Experience

Education: 

  • Completed Secondary Level Education required. (University Degree in Social Science desirable)
  • Studies in Police or any other security school being an asset.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 6 years’ experience in security, preferably in the military or police context or related field of work. Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable. 
  • Other Skills and Requirements: Knowledge of HF and VHF radio operation;
  • Experience in diplomatic security, or protection or related area is considered as an asset;
  • Knowledge of the country safety codes;
  • Solid computers skills (MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint);

Languages:

Fluency in French; a working knowledge of another UN language such as English will be desirable.
