Background and Rationale
The Division for Human Resources (DHR) is committed to strengthening organisational capability through structured learning and development initiatives. As part of its current strategic priorities, DHR is implementing key programmes to accelerate staff onboarding and integration, strengthen supervisor effectiveness and foster professional growth across the organisation.
To support this work, DHR is seeking an experienced Individual Consultant to support the coordination and delivery of various learning and leadership development initiatives.
Objectives
The Consultant will support DHR in achieving the following talent development outcomes:
- Support delivery of various cohorts of UNFPA’s established Supervisor Training Program in partnership with a vendor to strengthen supervisor competencies among current and newly appointed supervisors.
- Support the design and implementation of mentoring initiative(s).
- Support the design and implementation of other talent and leadership development initiatives.
Scope of Work
Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Career Development and Talent Mobility, tasks and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Support coordination, planning and delivery of several cohorts of UNFPA’s established Supervisor Training Program in partnership with a vendor to strengthen supervisor competencies among current and newly appointed supervisors. This could be virtual and/or face-to-face.
- Support the design and implementation of mentoring initiative(s) such as a corporate mentoring initiative, reverse mentoring, mentoring for senior managers.
- Support the design and implementation of other talent and leadership development initiatives
Duration and working schedule
1st April 2026 - 18th December 2026 with an initial 120 days
Place where services are to be delivered
- Consultant can work remotely from home or based in Nairobi, Kenya at UNFPA HQ.
- Consultant is responsible for providing their own equipment and secure internet access.
- Consultant shall maintain strict confidentiality with respect to all organisational information accessed during the engagement.
Supervisory Arrangements
The consultant will report to the Chief, Career Development and Talent Mobility.
Expected travel
Travel as required.
Required expertise, qualifications and competencies, including language requirements:
Skills and experience required: The consultant must offer the following demonstrated experience, knowledge, and skills:
- Advanced degree in Human Resources Management, Organisational Development, Education, or a related field.

Minimum [5] years of experience in HR learning and development, organisational capacity building, Leadership and Management training and development, or related areas.

Demonstrated experience designing and delivering virtual training and leadership development programmes.

Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Initiative and sound judgment essential; must be highly organized and have demonstrated ability to work well under tight deadlines and in a global, remote team;

Experience working within the UN system or an international organization desirable;

Languages: working knowledge in English required
