Purpose of consultancy:

The Senior Individual Giving Consultant will provide strategic advice and technical assistance to increase private sector revenue, in particular from Individual Giving.

The Senior Individual Giving Consultant will be located in the Private Sector and Civil Society Branch (PSCSB). The Individual Giving Programme Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Chief, Private Sector and Civil Society Branch, which leads organization-wide efforts to forge partnerships and resource mobilization to obtain new and innovative resources in support of the implementation of UNFPA’s operations.

Deliverables

●    Advise the UNFPA Individual Giving team, Private Sector and Civil Society Branch on all matters related to Individual Giving, ensuring the transfer and implementation of best practices from other International and non-governmental organizations within UNFPA.
●    Assist with the implementation and regular refinement of a comprehensive Individual Giving Strategy to grow Core and Flexible revenue by centrally driving a UNFPA-wide expansion of “Digital First” mass-market Individual Giving.
●    Develop Return on Investment (ROI) 12/24/36 month models and calculations to help ensure that Individual Giving campaigns are as profitable as possible, driving higher net returns to UNFPA.
●    Assist UNFPA in its contractual negotiations with agencies that supply Individual Donor Recruitment and Retention / Value Maximization activities such as Paid Digital fundraising, Direct Dialogue fundraising, Telemarketing, Direct Mail fundraising, and Television fundraising.
●    Advise UNFPA on how to enhance its Regular Giving programs, ensuring that core revenue from monthly donors and one-off donors is maximized, with particular focus to the US market.
●    Develop rigorous reporting tools to monitor and report on individual giving revenue, costs and key performance indicators. Train staff on these tools.
●    Under the framework of UNFPA’s Individual Giving Strategy, provide feedback and comments on annual workplan, including the Revenue and Costs and Key Performance Indicators projections, latest estimates and actuals.
●    Assist UNFPA with mid-year and year-end reviews of the private sector fundraising programs and results being achieved. 
●    Assist and support the Individual Giving expansion programme, including the drafting of Market Feasibility Studies, as required.
●    Assist and support the launching of Individual Giving in UNFPA Country and Regional Offices, in close coordination with HQs.
●    Prepare and deliver training sessions on Individual, Digital and giving with a focus on maximizing individual/monthly giving/one-off giving, especially for core resources, including the development of a donor journey/pledge giving manual.
●    Prepare the yearly Private Sector Fundraising Progress Status Update.

Required Qualifications

Education and Certification:
●    Master’s Degree or equivalent in public relations, marketing, advertising, business administration or related fields.
●    A first-level university degree, combined with two additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Knowledge and Experience:
●    At least 15 years of professional experience with private sector fundraising, especially Individual Giving.  
●    Work experience within the UN system is a strong asset as well as with international NGOs working in multiple markets.  
●    Experience in international development, donor aid programmes or another related field. 
●    Experience of working across large NGOs or UN bodies in the area of Individual Giving and engagement, helping them to achieve significant growth in income.
●    Experience in commercial marketing with a focus on Individual Giving for leading brands and clients is an asset.
●    Extensive and proven experience working with suppliers and agencies in the Individual Giving sector to deliver results and support income growth is an asset.
Languages:
●    Fluency in oral and written English is required. 
●    Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is desirable.
