Purpose of consultancy:
The Digital Giving Consultant will work to implement the UNFPA Individual and Digital Giving Programme, expanding the portfolio of individuals donating to UNFPA and progressively increasing resources coming through gifts from the general public. In this position, the Consultant will work to strategize, qualify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors, building a solid pipeline of one-time, recurring donors and major gifts. The incumbent will have extensive specific expertise and experience in digital fundraising and direct response marketing, including experience in developing and managing large-scale digital fundraising campaigns. S/he will provide vision and leadership for UNFPA in this fast-moving area and will be responsible for driving the growth and integration of digital fundraising and engagement in UNFPA. The Consultant will work on deploying and optimizing fundraising appeals aimed at recruiting new supporters, stewarding existing donors with a focus on enhancing their lifetime value and experience. S/he will also oversee the management of the UNFPA Corporate Donate platform.
The Digital Giving Consultant will be located in the Private Sector and Civil Society Branch (PSCSB). S/he will work under the direct supervision of the Chief, Private Sector and Civil Society Branch, which leads organization-wide efforts to forge partnerships and resource mobilization to obtain new and innovative resources in support of the implementation of UNFPA’s operations.
Deliverables:
- Roll-out, monitor and harness UNFPA’s global strategy for individual and digital fundraising. Ensure effective planning and strategic adjustments based on monitoring performance and developing key performance indicators.
- Develop a donor lifecycle marketing plan for individual donors on the UNFPA corporate donate platform.
- Monitor the performance and income from the web to UNFPA centrally through the FundraiseUp and manage available resources to implement an online fundraising plan for UNFPA.
- Review and recommend future optimisation and upgrade plans for UNFPA’s Corporate donate platform.
- Assist in the development, editing, and maintenance of donor landing pages and donation forms.
- Assist with donor journey mapping and help schedule retention communications.
- Strategic advice and technical support to the individual giving plans, with particular docs on the US market.
- Provide guidance and technical support on individual giving and online fundraising to UNFPA Regional and Country Offices, including piloting of new techniques.
- Support the implementation of and implement digital fundraising campaigns for key moments of giving, i.e., World Population Day, International Women’s Day, End-of-Year Appeal, etc.
- Quickly develop and implement digital fundraising campaigns for Humanitarian Appeals, as necessitated by emergencies.
Required Expertise and Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in public relations, marketing, advertising, business administration or related fields.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Seven years of increasingly progressive experience in digital fundraising. Solid and diverse technical and operational management experience in individual giving techniques and channels, resulting in significant revenue growth.
- At least five years of experience managing teams of digital fundraisers.
- Demonstrated success in digital fundraising and individual giving in the private sector or UN system.
- Experience in international development, donor aid programmes or another related field.
- Experience of working across large NGOs or UN bodies in the area of digital fundraising and engagement, helping them to achieve significant growth in income.
- Experience in commercial marketing with a focus on digital marketing for leading brands and clients is an asset.
- Extensive and proven experience working with suppliers and agencies in the digital sector to deliver results and support income growth is an asset.
Languages:
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is desirable.
