UNFPA Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is Central Asia’s most populous country, with a predominantly young population. It is making serious efforts to improve maternal and reproductive health, including access to family planning, but challenges remain to fully uphold reproductive rights and to strengthen the professional skills of medical personnel, especially in rural areas. Since 1993, UNFPA has focused on promoting reproductive health and rights, advancing national capacity to use population data for development programmes, and supporting efforts to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.
