The UNFPA Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries was inaugurated in 2006, covering Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The office provides programmatic and operational technical support to assure the integration of issues related to population and development, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, youth and gender in the national development plans and policies of the six countries.
