UNFPA has been providing assistance in Azerbaijan since 1994, helping the government incorporate population issues into national development goals. Over the years, poverty has dropped, and the country has made continued progress in increasing the use of contraceptives and reducing abortions. Initiatives aim to further broaden access to reproductive health services and to strengthen women’s roles in politics, the economy and all aspects of social life.
