The Nordic Representation Office (NRO) is located in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the office is part of the HQ-based Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships (DCS). The Nordic Representation Office serves to liaise with key partners including governments / Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Parliamentarians, non-governmental organizations, private sector, academia, the Nordic Council, media and citizens in the Nordic countries to raise awareness on the work and mandate of UNFPA for the purpose of continued and increased funding for UNFPA.

Before joining UNFPA’s Nordic Representation Office in August 2023, Ulla served as UNFPA’s Representative in Nigeria for 3.5 years, successfully positioning UNFPA as a key partner to Federal and State Governments, the international community, national civil society, and academia. She was also the Covid-19 Coordinator for the UN System in Nigeria. Previously, she served as the Humanitarian and Nexus Coordinator in Ethiopia, establishing a strong humanitarian team and response. Prior to joining UNFPA she was President and CEO of Engender Health, and Regional Director for East and Southern Africa in MSI Reproductive Choices. 

 

Ulla has advocated for gender equality and the rights of women and girls for three decades, and has more than 25 years of experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
