What if you had no say?
What if you couldn’t make any life choices? What if someone was always telling you what to do – what to wear, what to say, who to hang out with, even what to do with your own body? Sounds unreal, right? But for many women and girls, it’s just everyday life.
As we mark World Population Day, 1 in 4 women across the globe are not able to make their own decisions about their lives, their bodies, their future. This means they’re denied the power to exercise their sexual and reproductive health and rights. We’re talking about not being allowed to say “yes” or “no” to sex, not being able to get contraception or to see a doctor when needed, not being able to make choices about partnerships or parenthood.
That’s where UNFPA – the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency – comes in. We fight to ensure women and girls have the power to decide, helping them take control of their bodies and their lives. Working with partners in more than 150 countries, we help provide access to crucial services like family planning, healthcare and support for survivors of sexual violence.
By 2030, UNFPA wants to see major progress in reproductive health and rights for all women and girls, including access to family planning, as well as an end to preventable maternal deaths and harmful practices like child marriage and female genital mutilation.
But here’s the thing: The rights of women and girls are actually getting pushed back in many places. It’s time to make some noise – to stand up and demand that everyone gets to make their own choices.
This is your fight, too!
Your donation directly empowers women and girls facing setbacks to their health and rights. Every donation fuels UNFPA’s work, providing access to essential healthcare, safe spaces and vital resources. It’s about more than just funding – it’s about amplifying the voices of women and girls, defending their rights and ensuring that their futures are not defined by others. Your contribution makes you part of a global movement for equality.
