UNFPA is scaling up its response with partners to safeguard the health and rights of women and girls, including giving birth safely and living free from violence and abuse.

Nearly 7,000 individuals have been reached with life-saving sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence support including dignity and maternity kits in Turkiye's earthquake-affected areas.

UNFPA’s appeal for the earthquake response is $19.7 million and aims to reach 1.5 million people. To date, only 17% of the appeal has been funded.

UNFPA is responding to the earthquakes in Türkiye by scaling up services with partners to safeguard the health and rights of women and girls, including to give birth safely and to live free from violence and abuse.

On 6 February 2023, two big earthquakes with 7.8 and 7.6 magnitudes, respectively, hit areas of Türkiye and neighbouring countries. UNFPA appeals for $19.7 million to support the immediate acute response and initiate recovery of SRH ($11.7 million) and GBV services ($ 8 million).
