Türkiye Earthquake Situation Report #3 - 24 February 2023

UNFPA is scaling up its response with partners to safeguard the health and rights of women and girls, including giving birth safely and living free from violence and abuse.

Nearly 7,000 individuals have been reached with life-saving sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence support including dignity and maternity kits in Turkiye's earthquake-affected areas.

UNFPA’s appeal for the earthquake response is $19.7 million and aims to reach 1.5 million people. To date, only 17% of the appeal has been funded.

Women and girls need urgent support in the aftermath of the earthquake in Türkiye

The situation in Türkiye remains dire, with over 15 million people affected by the earthquake.

Half of them are women and girls, and more than 20,000 pregnant women will give birth soon.
