Her Majesty The Queen of Denmark, Patron of UNFPA

Her Majesty Queen Mary, Queen of Denmark, is a passionate advocate for health, gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls. She began her role as UNFPA Patron in 2010 as Crown Princess of Denmark, and she continues her support of UNFPA today in her position as Queen.

In her role as Patron of UNFPA, she has visited UNFPA programmes in 14 countries across Africa, Latin America, the Arab States, and Asia and the Pacific.

The Queen has, for many years, focused on being a voice for those who are marginalized in our society, promoting equality and the rights of girls and women, and on supporting sustainability efforts and nature conservation.

The Queen founded the Mary Foundation in 2007, with the mission of fighting social isolation based on the belief that “everyone has the right to belong”.
