Guidance note for gender-based violence communications

This guidance note outlines essential principles and practical recommendations to support ethical, inclusive and survivor-centred communications on gender-based violence (GBV). It provides clear dos and don’ts to help practitioners avoid harmful messaging, uphold human rights and remain survivor-centred, and apply gender-transformative approaches across advocacy, reporting and community engagement efforts.

This publication is part of a four-part series on gender-based violence communications, developed by UNFPA under the Women at the Centre programme with support from Takeda Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
