Reward package
UNFPA has adopted a comprehensive rewards package for staff that includes a range of policies and benefits designed to provide generous financial compensation, promote staff well-being, and offer a wealth of learning and career development opportunities.

Financial compensation & benefits
UNFPA follows the UN common system of salaries and allowances. Detailed information can be found on the International Civil Service Commission website. Salary calculations are available to estimate salaries for international and local positions.
Financial benefits depend on the staff member’s employment category and personal circumstances.
For international and local staff, these include:
- Competitive base salary plus post adjustment. The latter varies according to the cost of living in the duty station and the U.S. dollar exchange rate (e.g. the post adjustment for New York is around 65% of base salary). This ensures staff at the same level have similar purchasing power in every duty station. The International Civil Service Commission website has more information on the post adjustment, including current rates.
- Dependency allowances.
Subsidized medical and dental insurance for the staff member and eligible family members. - Secured pension fund (retirement plan).
- Danger pay, a special allowance for staff who work in locations where extremely dangerous conditions prevail.
