Job Summary:

The Project Manager will be based at the Project Office in Maputo working under the overall guidance of the Assistant Representative with close and effective collaboration and coordination with INE (National Institute of Statistics).

 

Job Purpose:

The Project Manager in collaboration with Government counterparts, and other implementing partners oversees the implementation of the Census project and its components in line with national priorities and according to UNFPA policies and procedures.  The coordination between the international partners is crucial due to a complex funding structure to the Population and Housing Census 2017. 

 

Education:

Minimum Master’s degree in social development, public health and/or other related social science field.

 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Five years of professional experience preferably in managing/coordinating development programs/projects in Africa region;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, coordination and reporting;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in working with government institutions, bilateral/multilateral development organization and/or UN;
  • Excellent knowledge on partnership building, donor coordination and result based management/reporting;
  • Experience working in development programming and provision of technical assistance
  • Ability to perform independently within tight deadlines;
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office applications).

 

Languages:

Fluency in Portuguese and in English.
