Job description

Job Summary

Under the overall guidance of the UNFPA Representative/Head of Office (Mogadishu) and under the technical guidance of the Communication/Partnership/Donor Relations Specialist, the Communications Analyst will work in close collaboration with programme and project staff  and support the formulation and implementation of the communications and advocacy strategies at the country level to increase the standing and awareness of UNFPA with partners, the media and the public. The Communications Officer will support the communication component of Peace Building Fund project that promote decision making and inclusion of youth voices in the peace and state building process in Somalia.

Education: 

Master’s Degree in political and economic sciences, sociology, law, international relations, communications, or related field.  A Bachelor’s degree in similar fields with 4 years’ experience will be accepted.

Knowledge and Experience:

At least two years’ relevant professional work experience in communications and public relations if holder of a Masters’ degree. At least three years’ relevant work experience if holder of a Bachelor’s degree.

Experience working for a development or humanitarian organization an asset.

Experience in video, print production and photography is desirable. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) essential.

Experience in graphic designing is an asset.;

Languages:

Fluency in English both spoken and written is a must. Knowledge of Somali language is desirable.
