UNFPA participation at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly

UNFPA Executive Director Ms. Diene Keita will speak at several high-level meetings during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, and UNFPA will host a number of side events with partners. 

Ms. Keita will speak at the following high-level meetings:

22 September: 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women

The theme of this high-level meeting is “Recommitting to, resourcing and accelerating the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.

25 September: 30th anniversary of the World Programme of Action on Youth

The theme of this high-level meeting is “World Programme of Action for Youth at 30: Accelerating global progress through intergenerational collaboration”.

25 September: Prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases and the promotion of mental health 

The theme of this high-level meeting is “Equity and integration: Transforming lives and livelihoods through leadership and action on noncommunicable diseases and the promotion of mental health and well-being”.

UNFPA will host the following side events with partners:

22 September: Uniting efforts on noncommunicable diseases and maternal health: From integration to impact

This event will assess the progress made in integrating maternal, newborn and child healthcare and health promotion, with strategies addressing noncommunicable diseases. It will focus on specific, high-burden examples and include case presentations from low- and middle-income countries. RSVP here.


23 September: Spotlight on menopause – Partnerships of the future: The role of the private sector in advancing women’s health

UNFPA and Bayer are organizing a high-level platform to spotlight how menopause affects women in the workplace. The joint event will advocate for stronger menopause-friendly workplace policies and launch a case study with practical examples of how UNFPA’s partners are integrating menopause into their broader sexual and reproductive health and rights efforts. Speakers will include representatives from Bayer, De Beers and Vodafone Foundation. RSVP here.


24 September: The political economy of implementing primary healthcare: Key policy shifts

This high-level event builds on the 78th World Health Assembly in May 2025, where health leaders from around the world emphasized the importance of sustained political commitment and increased investment in primary healthcare, particularly through the efforts of the Global Coalition on primary healthcare. 25 September: Scaling what works: From local success to global impact

UNFPA, high-level governmental representatives, UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador Ms. Natalia Vodianova, innovators and women’s health financing pioneers will come together to celebrate transformation and partnerships – and turn today’s solutions into tomorrow’s realities. RSVP here.
