The International Conference on Family Planning – the world’s largest gathering of advocates, policymakers, researchers and youth leaders in family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights – will take place this year in Bogotá, Colombia, under the theme “Family planning in a changing world: Rights, resilience and results.”

The conference is being held at a pivotal moment for global sexual and reproductive health and rights, amid shifting donor landscapes, demographic change and renewed calls for sustainable financing and equity in access to care. It’s the first time the event will be held in the Latin America and Caribbean region, where leadership and innovation are shaping the global family planning and reproductive health agenda.

UNFPA will play a leading role at the event, advancing global partnerships that place family planning at the heart of sustainable development. Guided by its Strategic Plan 2026–2029, UNFPA will highlight how rights-based investments in voluntary family planning empower women and young people to make informed choices, strengthen health systems and build resilience in a changing world.

High-level ministerial roundtable: Demographic futures – Current challenges and moving towards solutions
5 November

This roundtable will examine how demographic shifts – from rapid population growth to declining fertility – are transforming societies and influencing sustainable development. Drawing on insights from UNFPA’s State of World Population 2025, the discussion reframes the “fertility crisis” as a crisis of choice, emphasizing that reproductive autonomy – not demographic targets – must guide policy action. It is being co-organized by UNFPA, FP2030 and William H. Gates Sr. Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, and co-hosted by the Government of Colombia.

Parliamentarians at ICFP 2025: Equity through action
1–6 November

UNFPA and the Global Parliamentary Alliance for Health, Rights and Development are convening a global delegation of parliamentarians to attend the conference. The delegation will champion family planning as a cornerstone of sustainable development, climate resilience and demographic adaptation through their participation in the Parliamentary Forum and daily high-level dialogues with ministers and UN agencies, as well as on two panels. Through these discussions, the parliamentarians will reaffirm their commitment to financing, rights and demographic resilience.
