Job description
Position Summary:
The Technical Specialist, Census post is located in Mozambique, Maputo, National Institute of Statistics (INE) Office and reports to the UNFPA Representative/Deputy Representative and to the President of INE. The Technical Specialist will work as technical adviser of the IV Census and provide technical inputs to census organizers. He/she is therefore expected to have broad expertise relating to all aspects of census taking in developing countries, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, he will be required to have special skills and experience in census organization and management.
Requirements:
- Post-graduate qualification In statistics, economics or sociology, with specialization in demographic studies being desirable;
- 7 years of practical experience in the field of population data collection Including a population census;
- Considerable experience in conduct and management of large scale demographic surveys in developing countries preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish and English.
- Proficiency in current office software applications.
