Despite steady economic growth, rich cultural and biological diversity and a strong tourist industry, many people in Kenya live in poverty, worsened by severe drought. Addressing the country’s rapid population growth is seen as key to sustainable development, as outlined in the national planning strategy known as Kenya Vision 2030. UNFPA’s contribution includes strengthening reproductive health services, improving supply chains for contraceptives, advocating against gender-based violence, and facilitating integration of population dynamics into policy formulation.
