Results in Iran, Islamic Republic of

With UNFPA support since 1970, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made progress on maternal health and the management of population data, with initiatives supporting high-quality integrated reproductive health care and reproductive health responses in emergencies. UNFPA also supports the government in addressing emerging population challenges and opportunities, including a large youth population, ageing, female-headed households, and urbanization and migration.

Result achieved in 2024

The Age-Friendly Environment initiative was expanded in Yazd and Urmia cities, enhancing accessibility and social participation for older persons

Over 1600 female heads of households, including women with disabilities, received vocational and entrepreneurship training, creating a strategic partnership between the Technical and Vocational Training Organization and a digital marketing company

Cash voucher assistance was provided to 2,000 pregnant and lactating women affected by floods in Sistan and Baluchestan province, in partnership with the State Welfare Organization

1,029 individuals (843 females, 186 males) from Afghan refugee and host communities accessed mental health and psychosocial support through multi-purpose service centres in three provinces

490 youth and people with disabilities enhanced their digital literacy through vocational training combined with e-commerce training in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province
